Perimenopause

When women reach a certain age, they begin to experience symptoms of menopause even before actually reaching menopause. This period is called perimenopause. During this period, the hormone downfall directly affects the body’s functions, making the changes that many women experience quite intense.

Several years before menopause all hormonal processes start to malfunction. Deficits and hormone deficiencies occur silently whereas excess of different hormones cause mild changes in a woman’s daily life. The woman usually learns to live with those symptoms and signs, accepting them as “normal”.

What is the cause of Peri- menopause

In any case, during this long period, up to menopause, whether the symptoms are severe or mild, we know that they act as a ‘’waiting room’’ for the manifestation of diseases caused by the Hormonal Decline and Imbalance. Diseases that will probably occur in the later phase of a woman’s adult life.

At the end of the peri-menopause period, the permanent cessation of menstruation occurs and the woman is led to the menopausal phase. During Menopause, the body completely stops producing hormones and the end of the female reproductive period is defined.

Peri-menopause, as well as all the symptoms and health issues that arise during menopause, are attributed to the decrease of the hormone levels. All the hormones of the female body malfunction during the years that lead to menopause. The optimal function of all body systems has been lost and the endocrine system of the woman is entirely dysregulated. This process though, does not appear overnight.Perimenopause is a natural transition process taking place in the female body as it begins to produce less estrogen. Estrogen is one of the female hormones that promotes the development and maintenance of female characteristics of the body.

During peri-menopause, some hormonal changes may already be occurring in the female body. However, she doesn’t experience physical symptoms, she may still have periods (regular or irregular) and there are no noticeable physical changes in her body yet. As time goes by during perimenopause, she gradually begins to experience signs and symptoms and some physical changes, including irregular periods, hot flashes, mood changes, hair loss, weight gain, and more.

During perimenopause, the estrogen levels decrease or may go up and down sporadically resulting in irregular and skipped periods along with other symptoms.

Symptoms

It can be difficult to distinguish the hormonally based symptoms of perimenopause from more general changes due to aging or common midlife events. However there are several – hard to ignore-  symptoms that define the entrance in the peri-menopausal period of a woman’s life.Throughout Perimenopause women will experience at least some of the following symptoms, although their severity may differ considerably:

  • Irregular periods
  • Spotting between periods
  • Missed periods that alternate with heavy – bleeding
  • Night sweats and/or hot flashes
  • Vaginal Dryness/ pain during intercourse

Modern Therapeutic Approaches

Several treatments have been studied for managing perimenopausal symptoms. The vast majority of them focuses on individual symptom management. Several solutions proposed, such as reducing stress, regular exercise, implementing sleep schedules and an anti- inflammatory nutrition plan. The actual therapy arises from recognition of the true causes of the symptoms. And that is no other than hormone decline and imbalanace.

Cyclical Hormone Restoration Therapy – To which patients is addressed?

In the female body, Hormones reduce and gradually stop producing leading to the end of the reproductive ages, during peri – menopause. The female body will henceforth malfunction for the rest of its life while at the same time, all its systems remainunprotected.

Hormone restoration therapies are indicated for patients who do not want or are unable to take medication for treatment of hormone disorders and imbalances. These treatments are also prescribed to patients who need to use Hormone Restoration for a long period of time.

All cyclical Hormone Restoration Therapies imitate the natural, perpetual cycle of the production process.

Natural, bioidentical, hormones are given to patients cyclically, in a way that imitates nature. These treatments are recommended for patients who can comply to the specifications of the treatment in relation to the hours, days and doses throughout their cycle.

Plenty of symptoms are treated completely naturally. The female body, following restoration of its hormonal balance, gradually eliminates any dysfunctions occurred in organs and tissues.

Hormone recovery protocols consist only of Natural, Bioidentical hormones, that have no contraindications and side effects.
